The AHA’s BLS Provider Course reflects science and education from the 2015 Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. It teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on high-quality CPR and team dynamics.

In the Instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam.

Intended Audience – Healthcare Providers such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers who are responsible for the assessment and management of pre cardiac arrest, cardiac arrest, post arrest care and stroke and are required to hold an ACLS course completion card for their position.

Basic Life Support training reinforces healthcare professionals’ understanding of the importance of early CPR and defibrillation, basic steps of performing CPR, relieving choking, and using an AED, and the role of each link in the Chain of Survival.

ACLS is an advanced, Instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. Skills are taught in a large group session and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.

AHA Instructor Certification Course

This program is for both people looking to be an in-house instructor at work and Instructor looking to make extra income.  If you are looking to make extra income, start your own business or you need an In-house CPR / BLS instructor, we offer this CPR Instructor training course.  During CPR Instructor training we provide the core of what your need to know to be an American Heart Association instructor from teaching skills, AHA guidelines and proper procedures.  In addition we teach the business side of being a CPR / BLS instructor.  Marketing, class pricing, bidding corporate accounts and equipment needs are just a few of the subject covered to help you become a successful CPR Instructor.  Who can be an instructor? No medical background is required to be a CPR / BLS Instructor.  Many of our instructors are HR Directors, Facility Admins frustrated with scheduling to keep their employees compliant.  Larger medical practices providing a convenience of BLS certification to their employees by have a staff person go through CPR Instructor training.

  • For healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units

What does this course teach?

The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. To enter the course, students must complete the PALS Precourse Self-Assessment. Throughout the course, students are presented with 12 In-hospital pediatric patient cases and a team dynamics lesson. Upon successful completion of all the patient cases, students must pass the multiple-choice exam with a minimum score of 84%. Topics include:

  • High-quality Child CPR AED and Infant CPR
  • Recognition of patients who do and do not require immediate intervention
  • Recognition of cardiopulmonary arrest early and application of CPR within 10 seconds
  • Apply team dynamics
  • Differentiation between respiratory distress and failure
  • Early interventions for respiratory distress and failure
  • Differentiation between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock
  • Early interventions for the treatment of shock
  • Differentiation between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias
  • Clinical characteristics of instability in patients with arrhythmias

HeartCode ACLS is the AHA’s blended learning delivery method for the AHA’s ACLS Course. Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner, followed by a hands-on session.
HeartCode ACLS is a self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program that uses eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. To enter the course, students must complete a precourse self-assessment. Students will then be presented with a team dynamics lesson and 10 In-hospital patient cases, including a BLS case and 2 megacode cases. The cases may be repeated as many times as necessary to pass. Upon successful completion of all the patient cases, students will take a multiple choice exam and must pass with a minimum score of 84%.

The AHA’s HeartCode PALS Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC.

This eLearning course is the self-directed online portion of HeartCode PALS blended learning, which is followed by a hands-on session for skills practice and testing.

HeartCode PALS is a comprehensive program that uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics.  Using eSimulation technology, students can assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. In this environment, students also apply their knowledge to real-time decision-making and skills development. Debriefings and coaching are provided immediately after each simulation to facilitate learning.

Students who successfully complete the PALS Course online (including achieving a score of 84% or higher on the course exam) and the hands-on session will receive a PALS Provider course completion card (print or eCard), valid for two years.

Heartsaver CPR AED Online is the eLearning portion of the Heartsaver CPR AED blended learning course and is designed to teach students the cognitive information needed for CPR and AED training. Upon completion of the online portion, students must complete hands-on skills session with an AHA BLS or Heartsaver Instructor. This course provides students with the convenience of completing the course at their own pace wherever they have access to the Internet. It includes interactive exercises and videos to engage students and provide periodic points of knowledge transference, along with audio and transcript for students who may have a hearing or visual disability, and much more.

The US Coast Guard (USCG) has approved the AHA’s Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course as meeting the USCG Elementary First Aid* training requirements of:

  • Elementary First Aid per STCW Code Table A-VI/1-3;
  • Elementary First Aid per 46 CFR 11.302(a)(3) and 46 CFR 12.602(a)(3);
  • The first aid and CPR training requirements of 46 CFR 11.201(i)(1)

*All elective sections of Heartsaver First Aid with CPR AED (AMERHA-216) must be given.

AHA Instructors should provide this certificate to any maritime personnel that require the certificate to accompany their Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course completion card upon successful completion of the course with all options completed and written exam.
